In October 2005 Manmohan Singh sent a message to the Danish government in which he asked them to ban a magazine which had published some cartoons against Muslims. According to him, these cartoons had damaged the emotions of millions of Muslims around this world. Later in 2012 this government again talked about banning Charlie Hebdo cartoons. The reason for asking that was the same.

French historian Charles Bethlehem had written a book named ‘India Independent’. This book raised concerns about the efficacy of the existing policies of the Indian government. It did not take the government to ban the book soon after.
